Storm Ciaran hits northwestern Europe

A red and orange weather alert level is currently in effect in 26 departments.

The storm "Ciaran" has hit the north-west of Europe. As a result, because of bad weather in two departments, Côte d'Armor and Manche, was declared a red level of danger, in another 24 departments there is an orange danger code.

It is reported that the storm has reached such a force that the wind rips the roofs off houses, tears off power lines, rips out trees. At the moment, 1.2 million people were left without electricity, 780 thousand of which - in the region of Brittany.

It is also known that as a result of bad weather killed a man. This was reported by the Minister of Transport of France Clement Bon. The accident occurred to the north-east of Paris, where a tree fell on the driver of the truck, local media reported.

In Paris, flight delays are expected at airports due to strong winds to ensure flight safety. In the UK, to ensure the safety of children it was decided to stop classes in schools. In Ireland are struggling with the consequences of severe flooding.

As noted by meteorologists, "Ciaran" may become the strongest autumn storm in history.
