There has been an outbreak of an unknown infection in Tanzania that causes patients' eyes to become inflamed.
As the deputy head of the country's Ministry of Health, Hassan Khamis Hafid, doctors are doing everything possible to identify the causative agent of the disease and stop its spread.
However, 4,579 people in the Zanzibar archipelago have now been infected in a fortnight. Those infected have inflamed and red eyes.
Earlier, an unknown disease was reported to have affected members of one family.
