The clothing manufacturer Gap has not left Russia, in the remaining stores it sells Turkish brands.
American clothing manufacturer Gap has not left the Russian market. The company has closed several of its stores in the country, but in the remaining locations it sells items of Turkish brands, a market source told RIA Novosti.
In 2022 "Izvestia", referring to the consulting company CORE.XP, reported that Gap has decided to leave Russia completely, closing its stores in the country. Then all of the brand's 11 stores (10 in Moscow and one in St. Petersburg) were still working.
A source of the agency specified that Gap took the rests of their goods from Russia to Turkey and sells them there, and introduced new Turkish brands in Russian stores. According to him, the owner remained the same and the company "released" a part of the stores.
Olga Sumishevskaya, the founder and partner of the consulting company One Story, suggested that Gap got rid of inefficient locations and further presence is supported by other brands.
Sumishevskaya added that Russia has established logistics with friendly Turkey, on the background of which it could be chosen as a "partner".
