Most of that number is to European countries.
The US Department of Energy's report for the first nine months of this year shows an increase in exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the country, especially to European countries, oilcapital.ru reported. At the same time, the volume of LNG supplies from the U.S. increased by 8% compared to last year, reaching 89.2 billion cubic meters.
This growth is attributed to the continuing trend of substitution of pipeline gas from Russia with LNG. Between the beginning of the year and September, the U.S. supplied 65% of its LNG exports to the European Union. That's about 57.9 billion cubic meters of LNG. The rest went to Asia (27.6%) and Latin America (7.4%). Among the main consumers in Europe in September, the Netherlands, the UK and France stand out. They are followed by Japan and then the Spanish market, which used to be the leader in Russian LNG imports.
In September this year, LNG exports from the USA showed a slight decrease compared to the previous month (by 0.8%), but remained higher than last year's figures for the same period (18.6% growth). The total number of LNG tankers shipped from the US in September amounted to 107 ship units, if oil transportation data is taken into account.
