Russia's 2023 potato harvest hits 30-year record

About 8.6 million tons of potatoes were harvested. The figure is 18% higher than the same figure for 2022, according to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.

This indicator is also a record for 30 years. The highest potato yields were recorded in Bryansk, Tula, Moscow, Astrakhan and Nizhny Novgorod regions.

Officials point out that state support under the federal project "Development of Vegetable and Potato Growing" played its role in the growth of potato and vegetable yields. It provided subsidies to small and large agribusinesses. In 2023, 4.6 billion rubles were spent on it.

Earlier it was reported that Stavropol enterprises exported 1.4 million tons of agricultural products, which is 86% higher than in 2022.

Russian banks increased lending for seasonal field work in 2023. The total amount of finance allocated for these purposes by December amounted to RUB 1,086.6 billion.
