According to a report by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), for January 2024, passenger car production in Europe increased by 12.1 per cent year-on-year to 851,690 units.
The highest output growth was registered in Germany (plus 19.1 per cent), Italy (plus 10.6 per cent), France (plus 9.2 per cent) and Spain (plus 7.3 per cent).
It is important to note that the share of electric cars in the European market has also increased. At the end of January this year, it stood at 10.9 per cent, up from 9.5 per cent a year earlier. Hybrid electric cars also show growth, amounting to 28.8 per cent.
The decline in the share of petrol and diesel cars is also notable. According to ACEA, they accounted for about 50 per cent of the market, down from 54 per cent last year.
