It is reported that the company has increased its use of imported electronics.
The level of localization of the new Lada Vesta model has decreased, according to the decree of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, reports "Kommersant".
Thus, the sedan Lada Vesta with manual transmission, which was relaunched in production by AvtoVAZ in spring 2023, scored 3.2 thousand localization points, which is 135 points less than before the crisis. While the Lada Vesta station wagon lost 115 points, and the model with automatic transmission loses 650-655 points.
The manufacturer was able to increase localization by localizing some assembly stages and using more domestic components such as mirrors, headlights, tires, shock absorbers and other parts. However, the Lada Vesta lost points due to electronics, including the engine control unit, instrumentation, ABS and ESP systems, and the ERA-GLONASS system.
Some points were earned by the manufacturer due to research and development (R&D). Since the beginning of 2021, their number has increased from 635 to 1.9 thousand. However, the number of points depends on the share of revenue spent on R&D, and the decline in revenue caused by the reduction in sales and production in 2022 also affected the localization level.
According to the law, a car can be considered Russian and be eligible for a reimbursement of the utilization fee if a localization level of 2.6 thousand points is achieved. However, some parts not included in the list of localized components are actually manufactured in Russia, the plant says. This data is updated only a few times a year.
