The Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant in St. Petersburg may start making cars under the Solaris brand. These will be "Koreans" familiar to Russian drivers. As reported by Telegram-channel "Russian automobile", the brand was registered on HMMR LLC back in 2012.
As it is explained, when assembling cars under the Solaris brand, it is not necessary to change a lot of designations on the internal parts of the car, where there is a reference to Hyundai Motor Company. The brand belongs to Hyundai. In this case, the Koreans are not legally responsible for cars assembled not under their jurisdiction.
Kia and Hyundai cars at the St. Petersburg plant began to be produced after the New Year. Six to eight cars are made daily. The plant has machine kits for the production of about 2 thousand cars. If additional components are received, up to 50 thousand cars can be assembled.
The Hyundai plant began production of cars in January 2011. Production of cars was suspended in March 2022. Work resumed on January 9, 2024.
