It is assumed that the cars will be produced under the brands LADA and FAW.
Chinese auto concern Chery continues active negotiations on the possibility of localizing production of its popular crossovers Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 on the territory of the former Nissan plant, which was recently renamed Lada-St. Petersburg. A report about potential cooperation between Chery and the St. Petersburg plant appeared in the specialized Telegram channel "Autopotok" on Friday, July 7.
It is assumed that the production of Chinese cars will be carried out under the brands LADA and FAW, although the final agreement has not yet been reached.
Representatives of the AvtoVAZ press center have not yet been able to give an official comment on the matter, but about a year ago it was Chery that was already negotiating the possibility of producing its cars at the Nissan plant in St. Petersburg. However, these talks stalled due to the Chinese company's interest in assembling obsolete models.
Meanwhile, the St. Petersburg authorities have plans to create a special economic zone on the unused land plots of the former Toyota plant in Shushary.
