The plant's top manager noted that the new ultra-budget car will go into production next year.
Maxim Sokolov, head of the AvtoVAZ concern, offered Russian President Vladimir Putin to test the new Lada Iskra car during the head of state's meeting with the heads of manufacturing industry enterprises. The recording of the meeting was published in the Telegram channel RIA_Kremlinpool.
Maxim Sokolov noted that Lada Iskra is a new mass passenger car and one of the company's most budget-friendly cars. He said that the car is planned to be launched next year. The AvtoVAZ representative also recalled that Vladimir Putin had also previously tested the Lada Kalina model.
The Iskra model will replace the current Granta model, which the company is producing now. According to Maxim Sokolov, the production of Lada Iskra is planned to begin in late 2024, and sales of the new model will start in the first quarter of 2025. The current Granta series will be gradually phased out of production after 2026-2027.
